Jacob van den Borne runs a large farm in the south of the Netherlands. As a sustainable frontrunner, he is aware of the much-needed transition in agriculture. The Dutch government's emphasis on connecting the agriculture sector with the construction sector to use fibre crops to produce building materials has motivated Jacob to plant bamboo. Jacob is potentially removing 950 tonnes of CO2 through this bamboo field. In a few years, the barren field will have been replaced by a year-round green bamboo forest, providing shelter for insects and birds, as well as mice and boars.
